A free website option

Not just a free trial, an entirely free website. A site using less than 2 MB of web space is entirely free, and yet still your own site with your own site banner.

No adverts

top of page

On paid sites there are no adverts for anyone else, and not even a link to Turnpiece. If you're paying for it, it's your site - your space not my space. Though there are a number of services around that will claim to give you a free website or free web space, what they say is your space is actually their space. They will place adverts all over your site. Adverts for other companies or adverts for themselves. Whatever, they're adverts and they distract people from looking at your work. And a number of paid services do the same. In fact most services that set up websites for artists will insist on retaining quite prominent links to themselves on their clients' websites. Turnpiece doesn't do that. For just £1 a month you can have a site that is entirely your own. You may have seen Turnpiece Gallery websites on the Internet before but not realized they were Turnpiece Gallery websites.

Your own website banner (not ours)

top of page

You can upload your own website banner. This will appear at the top of each page of your site, making your site look totally unique. And if you need help creating a banner that's available too.

Upload images, MP3s and Flash movies

top of page

You can upload high resolution images, MP3 audio files and Flash SWF movies. There is no limit to how many images, audio files or movies you can upload to a site, but sites do have a limited amount of web space.

User-friendly web pages

Whatever kind of artist you are, you want to make it easy for people to see (or hear) your work. You don't want to force them to jump through hoops: having to download plugins because they don't have the right version of Flash, having to wait while some elaborate site structure downloads, or some intro which they're then forced sit through. If you do want to force your viewers through those things then you're in the wrong place. Turnpiece Gallery websites are for artists who want their work to reach the widest possible audience.

Search engine friendly pages

top of page

Turnpiece Gallery websites are built using HTML, not Flash. This means they can be indexed by search engines, which means when people go to a search engine and type in your name or the title of one of your pieces or the kind of work you do, your website is more likely to show up near the top of the search engine rankings. Putting your work into a Flash website may (or may not) look very nice to you, but to search engines it will be virtually invisible. And if it's invisible to search engines then people aren't going to find you so your beautiful (or not) website will be playing to you, your friends and your family (providing they can be bothered or are web-savvy enough to have installed the right browser and downloaded the latest plugin.)

Easy to set up and update

Gallery websites are very easy to set up and update. You don't need any technical knowledge or skills, and since there is no software to download sites can be updated from anywhere with an internet connection.

Display upcoming shows or gigs

Keep people up to date on what you're doing with the events page. You set the date of each event, give it a title and description, and the list of events will be displayed on your site in chronological order.

Customized upgrades available

top of page

If you set up a Turnpiece Gallery website but find it is not quite what you need then you can pay for the customization of the site or for extra features. This will work out quite a bit cheaper than a fully custom-made website. For instance, if you want a particular layout or colour scheme that is not one of the ones currently on offer then let me know and I will give you a free no-obligation quote as to how much it would be to add it.
