Turnpiece is Paul Jenkins, a website developer with more than 7 years of commercial experience.
Because Turnpiece is just me, costs are low, meaning the price you pay for a website is low. When you pay for a website you're just paying for the website. There is no office, there are no employees, no marketing department, no 24 hour call centre, so the costs of those things aren't built into the price you pay.

My background
I have a combination of creative and technical experience, as well as experience of working with clients.
I studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths' College, London between 1991 and 1994 but the need to earn a living (art wasn't paying the rent) meant I drifted into the internet in the late nineties and worked for the Internet Service Provider ClaraNET, firstly in their customer services department (becoming assistant manager and for a while acting manager) but then, on learning website programming, I moved to their website development department.
In 2000 I started work at a company called Proteus Ventures, an internet consultancy, working as a website developer until the dot com bubble burst. The company went under, I was made redundant and started doing freelance work, setting up Turnpiece with Tim Siddall in January 2002.
Turnpiece has concentrated on building small websites, usually taking them from the initial concept through to completion and beyond: hosting the site on the Turnpiece web server, helping with the marketing and promotion of the site, doing upgrades and generally helping the individual, business or organization develop on the internet. I believe that if my clients' websites are successful then this will reflect well on Turnpiece.
I also do occasional contract work (as Paul Jenkins rather than as Turnpiece). This tends to involve working as part of a team on large websites, usually corporate ones. Though less rewarding than the work I do for Turnpiece, this kind of work is useful in that it keeps me up to date with the latest technologies and developments in the industry. Much of this work is on password protected areas of websites so I can't provide links to these, but below are screen shots (some of which are links) of some sites I have worked on.
